Luiza Cala (Romania)

Behind the artistic pseudonym LUIZA CALA hides Luisiana Calaidjoglu, the person who manages to combine the visceral passion for beauty with the useful. Luiza Cala is a plastic artist. In 2006 she was awarded the gold medal at the MCA, Cannes Azur. She has works in private and state collections in many corners of the world. From 2012 to 2018, Luiza Cala was the coordinator for Romania of the Culture and Art Forum Without Borders, a forum that takes place annually, in September, in the gardens of the Balchik castle. She is a member of the Writers’ Union of Romania and the Union of Professional Journalists of Romania.

She debuted in the magazine Tomis in 1976, with an essay. She has 12 volumes of published poetry, a volume of short prose and a volume of interviews. Her editorial debut came late, in 2017, with the volume of short prose Sometimes, young men eat breakfast.
