Gelu Diaconu (Romania)

GELU DIACONU (born November 26, 1962, Bucharest) is a poet, prose writer and cultural journalist. He made his publishing debut in 2004, in the magazine Oglinda Literară, with a group of poems. In 2006, he debuted in volume with the story Fabian, published by Marineasa Publishing House in Timișoara (reissued by Polirom Publishing House, 2024).

He has published several volumes of poetry, the most recent being 77 Songs for Mr. Peanut (Junimea Publishing House, 2023) and Elegies from the Camp Road (Tracus Arte Publishing House, 2024).

His most recent novels are Băieții n-au voie să plângă (Paralela Publishing House 45, 2023) and Viața mea în 1984 (Litera Publishing House, 2024, Pantazi collection, which is coordinated by Cosmin Perța).

He contributed, as an anthologist, to the publication of the volume Generația O Mie de Semne – 59 de poeți apăruți la Poșta Redacției, Casa de Pariuri Literare, 2022.

Also, as an anthologist, he contributed to the editing of the volume Biblioteca lui Gelu (Editura Cartex, 2023), which contains 15 interviews conducted as part of the Biblioteca lui Gelu podcast.

He currently manages the cultural websites www.citatecarti.ro and www.omiedesemne.ro, the latter receiving the Cultural Promoter of the Year Award at the Poezia e la Bistrița International Poetry and Music Festival in 2021. He is also the producer of the podcast Biblioteca lui Gelu, a project created in collaboration with Dan-Andrei Deaconu and Mihai Deaconu.
